3. Travelling, Part 1

As you might already know, you will have to make a brochure about some place.
You can do it here.
Step-by-step instructions:
1) Choose a destination;
2) Find pictures that define your choice (try this site to find free-of-charge pictures) or choose the ones you've taken;
3) Think of what you can write about the place (general overview, sights, history, cultural importance, tips for travellers);
4) Organise it in a nice layout;
5) Publish and share;
6) Think of a small speech you'll have to prepare for the next class where you are going to describe the place you've chosen;
7) Practise your speech tirelessly and deliver it to your audience during our next class.

Here is the example of my booklet (you don't have to make your brochure too big - 2 pages is enough).

2. Music and Songs

So, today your task is to create a poster/billboard about the arrival of a singer/songstress/band in Omsk.
You'll do it on this site -
First of create an account and then follow your imagination to create a poster.
For winners - the poster will be about your favourite  singer/songstress/band.
For losers -   the poster will be about your least favourite  singer/songstress/band.
What should be included:
- name (obviously)
- when
- where
- a picture of the singer/songstress/band
- some info about the singer/songstress/band
- whatever else you deem necessary/appropriate.

final task

Your last task, real late starters, will be to create your own site that is devoted to your hobby.

Create general frame and devote your site to the stuff you find fascinating.

The process: obviously, create new account

1. Choose a template

2. Change everything and add your info via user interface

3. Publish your site

4. Enjoy all the hard work you've done

Publish the fruits of your labours on the blog or Google + page.

8. Timeline

Your home task is going to be to create a timeline.
You may choose one of the following topics

• Timeline of a person (singer, artist, actor, you)
• Crime timeline (murders, assassinations, bank hold-ups)
• History timeline (development of computer technology, history of the English/Russian etc. language)
• Entertainment timeline (history of video games, Twilight)
• Sports timeline.

5. Advertisements

Your hometask is going to be to create an ad (commercial) about a product - it can be anything but try to find some peculiar/unique object to advertise. A broom or sleeping pills, perhaps. 

The following steps should be applied 

1) Create a slongan/tagline that is catchy and humorous. 

2) Highlight the benefits/advantages of the product 

3) Create/find compelling visuals 

4) Create a logo (optional) 

5) Add soundtrack if it is a video. 

In order to create your masterpiece you can use online tools we've worked with, like animoto, goanimate, glogster, or you can create in with pixlr. 

Oh, you may also want to make it in the form of a demotivator or an e-card. 

6. Healthy Lifestyle

Healthy lifestyle time.

So... You are a student of Omsk State University, which means that you don't have enough time to eat properly or exercise...

BUT!

The summer is coming! And, now, it is the best time to think about your health, and the way your body will look on the beach 

Today you will be Fitness Instructors, Nutrition Specialists and Healthy Lifestyle Advisers, and you will create a weekly fitness, meal and healthy lifestyle plan for an average student of our university!

You have to make a real plan - the one that can REALLY be used by any student to get fit before the summer comes - even by yourself!

7. Stories

You have a choice today. Choose one of the tasks below and complete it in Google Docs. Do not forget to paste a link on your blog or Google+ page.
 1) Write a story using this site as a helper - you can choose characters, places, situations and objects for your story there. Write a short story of 15 sentences or more that is based on data from the site.
 2) Watch this video and think of a beginning or continuation of the story developed in the video. Write a short story of 15 sentences or more of what happened before the events in the video or after them.
3) Create a dystopian story about opressive future of a country. Start with a sentence - It was a halcyon Midsummer day when the Robot became the President of the country. (If you desire to choose another beginning, that's fine with me). Write a short story of 15 sentences or more.
